Because of his Armenian heritage, he found the idea of a decentralized store of value appealing, making it worth a whopping $82.5 million at current prices. His family’s heirloom rugs were seized by Turkish soldiers during the Armenian genocide in World War I, sparking his interest in “unseizable property”.
Alexis Ohanian, the founder of Web3 Antivirus, believes strongly in self-custody and manages the private keys to some of his most valuable crypto-related investments. He saw the potential for developers to create a wide range of potentially unseizable assets on top of Ethereum and made an initial investment in Ether.
