After meeting with con artists posing as investors in a hotel lobby in Rome, the co-founder of Web3 metaverse game engine “Webaverse” stated they had been the victims of a $4 million cryptocurrency heist. According to Ahad Shams, the cryptocurrency was taken from a recently created Trust Wallet, and the theft happened at some time during the meeting. He thinks that while taking a picture of the wallet’s balance, the burglars managed to get inside.
Shams filed an Internet Crime Complaint (IC3) form with the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation after reporting the theft to the local Rome police station.
