Outgoing CEO Al Kelly briefly shared the firm’s plans for Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and private stablecoins. Visa began working on a blockchain interoperability project in Sept. 2021 to support CBDC and stablecoin adoption but few updates have been made since. Visa’s research team began working on a blockchain interoperability project in September 2021. The payment giant hasn’t provided an update on the UPC in over 12 months.
